Braces Treatment Procedure

Step 1: Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

• Clinical examination

• Extraoral and intraoral photographs

• Digital scans or impressions

• OPG and lateral cephalogram

• Cephalometric analysis

• Model analysis

• Treatment objectives

• Decide extraction or non-extraction plan

• Select bracket prescription (MBT, Roth, Damon, etc.)

Step 2: Oral Preparation

• Scaling and polishing

• Treat caries if present

• Improve oral hygiene

• Separate teeth if molar bands are planned

Step 3: Isolation

• Use cheek retractors

• Cotton rolls or dry angles

• Saliva ejector

• Keep enamel completely dry

Step 4: Tooth Surface Preparation

• Clean enamel with pumice

• Rinse thoroughly

• Dry completely

Step 5: Acid Etching

• Apply 37% phosphoric acid

• 15–30 seconds on enamel

• Rinse well

• Dry until frosty white appearance

Step 6: Bonding Agent

• Apply primer/bonding agent

• Thin with air

• Light cure if required by the adhesive system

Step 7: Bracket Placement

• Apply adhesive to bracket base

• Position bracket using bracket positioning gauge

• Correct height and angulation

• Remove excess composite

• Light cure each bracket from mesial and distal

Step 8: Molar Tubes or Bands

• Bond buccal tubes directly
